Psalm 11:2-4

For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.  If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?  The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven: his eyelids behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. 

What an accurate description of the days we live in!  The heathen are raging against the Lord and his anointed ones.  Those who live righteously make themselves a prey to the wicked.  Every righteous standard that governs our society is under violent assault; the very foundations of truth are beginning to crumble.  Men call good evil, and evil good.  What is the remedy?  Psalm 11:4: The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven.  The only hope for a nation whose foundations are collapsing is the prayers of the saints.  Only the people of God have access to his throne.  The church is the only force in the earth with access to the very power and authority of the living God.  The wise God has answers to the problems plaguing our society.  He has the remedy for violence, drug abuse, sexual immorality, divorce, and every other downfall of our day.  If believers will begin to approach God on behalf of our nation, we'll see the wisdom of God unleashed against the foolishness of this age.  There is no plan B.  If the church does not awaken to the true purposes of God, our nation will be lost.  No humanism, no carnal wisdom, no "moral teaching" can preserve the foundations of society.  Only an encounter with the Holy God can change the course of a nation.  The answer is the place of prayer, and only the prayers of the righteous can avail.
